Other Facts - Murree is known as Malik-a-kohsar (Queen of mountains) Murree, at 2,240 meters (7,400 feet), is only an hour's drive northeast of Islamabad. Its cold pine forests, amidst magnificent mountain scenery, make it the first choice for a day's outing from the capital. The Galis are a string of hill resorts along the ridge between Murree and Abbottabad, on the Karakoram Highway. Murree is lovely all year round. In summer it is cool - even chilly in the evening - and rain is common. In winter, the snow is piled high along the sides of the streets. But it is extremely popular with Punjabis escaping the heat of the plains in summer, so is too crowded for comfort from late May to early September, especially at weekends. September-October. Murree spreads along the top of a ridge for about five kilometres (three miles). At the northeast end is Kashmir Point, with views across the valley of the Jhelum River into Azad Kashmir. At the southwest end is Pindi Point, looking back towards Rawalpindi and Islamabad. Between the two runs The Mall, at the center of, which is the main Shopping area, where most people congregate. Numerous roads leave. The Mall and either follow the contours of the ridge or descend to the principal road. Promenading and shopping are Murree's main amusements.le. Good buys in Murree are Kashmiri shawls, furs, walking sticks, fruits and nuts. Murree's pistachio nuts are reputed to be the best in Pakistan. BHURBANBhurban is a minor resort eight kilometers (five miles) from Murree on the road-leading northeast to Kohala and the Jhelum Valley. The golf course here is open only to members. From near the Pearl Continental hotel you can take one of the many delightful paved walks through the woods PC Burban PATRIATAPatriata is 25 km from Murree. The TDCP has developed a new tourist resort at Patriata. There is chairlift and cable car system, which takes visitor's upto Patriata Ridge in two stages from Gulehra Gali. The first stage is by chair lift up to Patriata Bazaar. From here visitors transfer to cable car gondolas for the ride up to Patriata Ride. A restaurant has also been established. Further plans include development of a wildlife park at the mid-station. Dunga gali (near murree) SWAT -KALAMThe Swat Valley becomes more beautiful the higher you go. In mid-winter it is sometimes blocked by snow above Bahrain, but in summer you can drive up beyond Kalam and from their trek north to either the Chitral Valley or the Gilgit Valley. From Khwazakhela, the road across the Shangla Pass to the Karakoram Highway is usually open only from April to December. MIANDAMMiandam: is a small summer resort ten kilometres (six miles) up a steep side valley and 56 kilometres (35 miles) from Saidu Sharif, making it an hour's drive. The metalled road passes small villages stacked up the hillside, the roofs of one row of houses Forming the street for the row of houses above. Tiny terraced fields march up the hillside right to the top. BAHRAINBahrain: is about 1,400 meters (4,500 feet). It is a another popular Riverside tourist resort, with bazaars worth exploring for their handicrafts. Some of the houses have carved wooden doors, Pillars and balconies. These show a remarkable variety of decorative motifs, including floral scrolls and bands of ornamental Diaper patterns almost identical to those seen on Buddhist shrines and quite different from the usual Muslim designs. KALAM29 kilometres (18 miles) from Bahrain and about 2,000 meters (6,800 feet) above sea level, the valley opens out, Providing rooms for a small but fertile plateau above the river. In Kalam the Ushu and Utrot rivers join to form the Swat River. Here, the metalled road ends and shingles road leads to the Ushu and Utrot valleys. From Matiltan, one gets a breath taking View of the snow-capped Mount Falaksir 5918 meters (19,415-ft.), and another un-named peak 6096 meters (20,000 ft.) High. Ushu, Utrot and Gabral Valleys:The valleys of Ushu, Utrot and Gabral beyond Kalam constitute some of the most beautiful parts of Swat. There is good trout Fishing around Utrot. Foreign tourists are advised to contact the local police authorities at Kalam before proceeding to the valleys Of Ushu, Utrot and Gabral. Swat is ideal for camping, trekking and mountaineering. Permits are necessary, and can be obtained from the Tourism Division, The waters of the Swat River around Kalam and in the valleys of Ushu and Gabral abound in brown trout. Fishing licenses must be obtained from the office of the Assistant Commissioner, Fisheries at Madyan and Kalam. KAGHANLocation About 300 Kilometers from Islamabad via Abbotabad, Mansehra & Balakot. Accessibility You can reach Kaghan by road from Islamabad, Peshawar to Abbotabad,Balakot to Kaghan. Other Facts 154.5 kilometers in area. This valley has peaks and lakes in abundance. Kaghan valley is the most beautiful & picturesque valley. That's why it is called virtual paradise, unbelievably pristine state and still unspoiled by the human. You'll find the Himalayan peaks hidden with clouds or snow, somewhere you'll find the beautiful fairy tale lakes, which will attract you toward them, and you might decide not to leave this place at any cost. Where Kaghan is full of scenic beauty there it is full of thrill and excitement for the mountaineers and treks. Kawai: 13 miles away from Balakot to Kaghan is Kawai in these 13 miles you'll reach the altitude of 4000 feet starting from 3000 feet which means that you have covered 1000 feet of altitude in just 13 miles. The main place here to visit is Shogran, which is 5 miles jeepable trek now in these 5 miles you'll go up another 3000 feet. Now you are 7000 feet above the sea level and rightly so because Shogran means "Forest in the sky". You'll be able to view the some of the lofty peaks from here which are " Moosa Ka Musalla " and " Makra "having height of 14000 feet, and Malika-e-Parbat (Queen of the Mountains) (17000 feet). Then comes Mahandri village the altitude here is 5,800 feet now the landscape and the scene changes here and becomes wilder the river Mahandri is still with you but you'll feel it much closer to you. Another 11 miles from here is the village Kaghan at 7000 feet is the wonderland here river is 800 feet below the road. the beauti ful sence of shogran Naranis the middle point of Kaghan Valley and it is a place where you defiantly want to spend few days of your leisure. This is the place of out-door pleasure. Here you'll depart from the river Kunhar and on both sides of road there are vast fields. Don't look here and there the melody you are hearing is provided by the river Kunhar who is with you on same level. If you like climbing this is a place for you because there are mountains all around you. You can explore the scenic and picturious landscape and valley's by climbing up hiking. If you like fishing get your fishing license we have trout and mahasheer for you fishing here for tourist is must. Lake Saiful Maluk:Five mile away another 3000 feet above the Naran is Fairy Tale Lake Saiful Maluk the lake is accessible by jeep or by trekking because there is a mere trek to reach the lake. It is almost impossible to describe the beauty of this lake, which is like mirror at the altitude of 3200 meters. The Queen of the Mountains is standing in the east and looking her image in the mirror of Lake Saiful Maluk. You can spend few days here to monitor the guards of lake, which are towering peaks and spread all around the lake.
Lulu Sar Lake:48 kilometers away from Naran, on Naran-Babusar road is Lulu Sar Lake which is wreathed in blue and gold wild flowers, and is the main source of river Kunhar. Battakundi and Lalazar:16 Kilometers from Naran is the Battakundi another enjoyable spot and is the turning point for Lalazar connected via jeepable road which a plateau of rare scenic beauty.
